Cool ep. Would not recommend Tokyo Rent though. Got my place with them before I knew better and really wish I hadn’t. Most of the foreigner friendly rental companies charge a LOT more (between 10,000 – 50,000yen) for the monthly rent than the place is worth and they get away with it because it’s so difficult for most non-Japanese speakers to get a place from a regular Japanese company.

I would HIGHLY recommend asking a Japanese friend to help you get a place from a regular rental company. You may even have to pay more key money, etc but if you’re staying more than a year you’ll save money in the long run,

    2. I’m in a Tokyo Rent building and so far I haven’t had any problems. I don’t doubt that I could find a cheaper place but for me the location of my place was key.
